Perhaps one of the biggest issues I think about, as a sculptor, is the importance of art in today's world. I have always made things out of whatever I had--found materials, clay, wood--and I've explored other art forms from writing to playing music to theater and photography. All of these forms of art are a personal expression with the intent of enjoyment either for myself or others. I hope that my work can someday be part of a bigger picture, perhaps representing a more understanding human mindset. There are many ways to accomplish this, from custom installations with a specific message, to using art as a fundraising tool. Art, really, is about an individual's relationship with a specific piece. For me the importance lies in creating something that can develop a relationship, either with an individual or many, many people.
